DrilByte (DRBY) Whitepaper
Draft v0.1, September 2026
1. Abstract
DrilByte is an EVM-compatible blockchain with its own native coin, DRBY. It is built to make blockchain payments and on-chain products easy to use for everyday people and online merchants. The ecosystem is planned around four pillars: a community mining airdrop, a payment gateway for online stores, a decentralized exchange and NFT marketplace (DrilSwap), and a token launchpad. Cross-chain bridges to BNB Chain, Base and Polygon are planned for later phases.
This document describes the network, the token economics, the roadmap and the risks. It is a living document and will be updated as the project evolves.
2. Vision
Most people are new to crypto, and most merchants have no easy way to accept it. DrilByte aims to lower both barriers:
- For users: a simple, mobile-first way to earn their first DRBY through the community mining app, and to spend it.
- For merchants: plug-and-play payment integrations for platforms such as Shopify and WordPress.
- For builders: a fast, low-cost, fully EVM-compatible chain where existing Ethereum tooling works out of the box.
3. Network Overview
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Network name | DrilByte |
| Chain ID | 275 |
| Native coin / Symbol | DRBY (18 decimals) |
| Consensus | Proof of Authority (Clique) |
| Block time | 10 seconds |
| Clique epoch | 30,000 blocks |
| Block gas limit | 35,000,000 |
| Fee model | EIP-1559 (initial base fee: 1 gwei) |
| EVM compatibility | All forks through London |
| RPC | https://rpc.drilbyte.com |
| Block explorer | https://explorer.drilbyte.com |
Theoretical capacity. A simple transfer costs 21,000 gas, so one block fits roughly 1,660 transfers, or about 160 transfers per second in theory. Real-world throughput will be lower and depends on transaction types.
Adding DrilByte to a wallet. In MetaMask (or any EVM
wallet), add a custom network with the values above: Chain ID
275, currency symbol DRBY, RPC URL
https://rpc.drilbyte.com, explorer
https://explorer.drilbyte.com.
4. Consensus and Validators
DrilByte currently runs Proof of Authority (Clique). In PoA, a fixed set of approved validators seal blocks instead of miners or stakers competing for the right.
Current status, stated plainly: the network launched with a single validator. This gives fast blocks and a stable start, but it is not decentralized at this stage. Users should understand that the network operator currently controls block production.
Plan: the team intends to add independent validators in the future. The priority in the early phase is network stability, so validator expansion will follow once the network has proven reliable. The eligibility criteria and onboarding process will be published before any expansion.
5. Tokenomics
5.1 Supply
The total genesis supply is 4,000,000,000 DRBY, allocated at genesis to a single address which then distributes according to the table below.
| Allocation | Share | Amount (DRBY) |
|---|---|---|
| Community airdrop / mining | 2.5% | 100,000,000 |
| Team | 5% | 200,000,000 |
| Game rewards | 5% | 200,000,000 |
| Private sale (reserved) | 3% | 120,000,000 |
| Presale (reserved) | 5% | 200,000,000 |
| Exchange, liquidity and treasury | 79.5% | 3,180,000,000 |
| Total | 100% | 4,000,000,000 |
5.2 Treasury use
The treasury and exchange allocation is intended for: liquidity on DrilSwap and on exchanges, exchange listings, protocol and ecosystem development, partnerships and grants. It is the largest allocation, so it will be held in a multi-signature or otherwise hardened wallet, and the wallet addresses will be published so anyone can verify balances on the explorer.
5.3 Burn schedule
The team plans to burn 50% of the total supply (2,000,000,000 DRBY) over 5 years, taken from the treasury allocation. A linear schedule over 60 months corresponds to roughly 33.3 million DRBY per month (about 0.83% of the initial supply). [Final schedule to be confirmed before publication.]
Burns are executed on-chain by sending tokens to the public burn address:
0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD
so anyone can verify every burn on the block explorer. If the plan is followed, the supply falls from 4 billion to about 2 billion DRBY after five years.
5.4 Network fees
The network uses EIP-1559. The base fee is burned by the protocol, and the priority fee goes to the validator that sealed the block.
5.5 Team allocation
The team allocation (5%) is subject to a vesting schedule to align the team with long-term success. [Cliff and vesting duration to be defined and published.]
5.6 Genesis addresses
For transparency, these are the two addresses set up at genesis. Both are public on-chain, so anyone can check their balances and activity on the block explorer.
| Role | Address |
|---|---|
| Genesis validator (signer) | 0x889638Cc5BF3082327dB334F00f7A4A8927040dd |
| Genesis allocation holder | 0xc4D9Db1F668850e8B6F70Eced0590e919cE5CdBd |
6. Community Airdrop and Mining
2.5% of supply (100,000,000 DRBY) is reserved for the community. Instead of a random airdrop, DrilByte distributes it through daily mining: rewards go to people who actually take part, and KYC is required at claim time.
How it works
- The user signs in with their X (Twitter) account.
- The user taps Start mining once every 24 hours.
- After the 24-hour session, the user claims 5 DRBY and can start a new session.
- The app shows the user's real accumulated balance and a profile page to set or change their wallet address.
Referrals. Each account can invite up to 20 users. Both the inviter and the invitee receive 2 DRBY per successful referral.
Distribution. Mined balances are tracked off-chain in the app. When a user claims, they complete KYC verification, and then receive their DRBY on-chain in four installments. [Installment schedule to be published.]
Pool protection. The airdrop pool is finite. At 5 DRBY per day, 100 million DRBY supports roughly 55,000 active miners for a year (before referral bonuses). To keep the pool sustainable, the mining rate is planned to decrease as participation grows, and the app will display the remaining pool. [Exact parameters to be finalized.]
Privacy. KYC is performed through a third-party verification provider. DrilByte does not intend to store identity documents itself. A full privacy policy will be published before KYC opens.
7. Ecosystem
- Payment gateway. Plugins and integrations that let online stores (for example on Shopify and WordPress) accept DRBY at checkout.
- DrilSwap. A decentralized exchange for swapping tokens, plus an NFT marketplace.
- Token launchpad. A platform for launching community tokens on DrilByte, inspired by Pump.fun-style launches.
- Game rewards. 5% of supply is reserved to reward players in games and apps built on the network.
Products will be released in phases, and each will be announced when it is live and tested.
8. Cross-Chain Bridges
The first bridge targets are BNB Chain, Base and Polygon, allowing DRBY to move between DrilByte and those networks.
Bridges are among the most attacked components in crypto. For that reason, bridging will be introduced only after a security review, with transfer limits at launch. While the network has a single validator, the security of the bridge depends on the operator, and this will be disclosed clearly to users.
9. Future Token Sales
3% (private sale) and 5% (presale) of supply are reserved, not scheduled. Reservation is not an offer.
- Any sale is conditional on network stability, a legal review in the relevant jurisdictions and a security review of the sale contracts.
- Purchasers in a private sale will be subject to vesting, and part of any presale allocation will be locked.
- Any reserved tokens that are not sold will be burned.
- No price has been set. It will be determined at the time of any sale and announced publicly.
10. Roadmap
The roadmap is milestone-based. Dates are deliberately not fixed.
Phase 1 — Foundation Stable mainnet, public RPC and block explorer, wallet setup guides, website and community channels.
Phase 2 — Community Mining airdrop app, referral system, KYC and installment distribution, community growth.
Phase 3 — Products DrilSwap (swap and NFT marketplace), payment gateway plugins, liquidity provision from the treasury, start of the burn schedule.
Phase 4 — Expansion Token launchpad, game rewards program, security-reviewed bridges to BNB Chain, Base and Polygon, and onboarding of independent validators.
11. Security and Risk Management
DrilByte is an early-stage network, and we think you should know exactly where it stands today and what we are doing about it. This section explains each main risk in plain language, together with the safeguards that are in place or planned. No crypto project is risk-free, but every risk below has a clear owner and a clear plan.
- Network control: in the early phase, block production is run by a single validator operated by the team. This keeps the network fast and stable while it matures. It also means the network is not yet decentralized, and we say so openly. Independent validators will be added in a later phase, with the eligibility criteria published in advance.
- Key management: treasury and validator keys are the most sensitive assets in the project. Hardened custody is planned for them, with access restricted to as few people as possible, and any treasury movement follows the published allocation plan and can be checked by anyone on the block explorer.
- Smart contracts: every contract we release goes through testing and review before launch, and new products are rolled out in stages with conservative limits at first. Audits and staged launches lower the chance of bugs a great deal, but no software can be guaranteed bug-free.
- Bridges: cross-chain bridges are a common target for attackers, so we have placed them late in the roadmap. They will only launch after a security review.
- Regulation: KYC is built into the mining claim process from the start, and we will keep adjusting as the rules in different countries change.
- Market value: DRBY is a utility token for use in the DrilByte ecosystem. Its price can move up or down, and it may have little market value, so please only take part with an amount you are comfortable with.
- Delivery: the roadmap is milestone-based, so each step ships when it is ready rather than on a fixed date. Plans may change as we learn, and we will publish updates here and on our official channels.
11.1 What you can do
- Verify anything important yourself on the block explorer.
- Use only the official links listed in section 13.
- Never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone. The team will never ask for it.
12. Developer Notes
DrilByte is EVM-compatible through the London fork.
The Shanghai upgrade is not enabled, so Solidity 0.8.20
and newer must be compiled with evmVersion: "paris" (or
earlier) to avoid the PUSH0 opcode, which the network does
not support.
Standard Ethereum tooling (Hardhat, Foundry, ethers.js, web3.js,
MetaMask) works with Chain ID 275 and the RPC above.
